It's Official

Hi everyone,

Today's meeting was great, you were all motivated and had very good ideas and opinions right from the start. You're all very smart! What happens when smart people gather together in one group to form a plan?

Paula and Monica did GREAT keeping us on the right track with their judgment. Enrique began the meeting with very good ideas, and from there we took off. Let's keep the ideas growing so next meeting (Dec 10, 09) we can discuss them but this time get more into details since we will have the big picture in mind already.

*For those of you who would like to meet with me 1on1 (or as a group) outside our regular club meetings to discuss anything regarding our club, contact me to arrange a time and place.. I highly recommend this to all of you.

• Preparing for a big book fundraising next semester - if you have books that you would like to donate to the club, we would really appreciate it. We will let you know when you can start bringing them in for donation.

Second Club Meeting!

Hi everyone,

This week we had a very small group as many of you were not able to come. Progress was definitely made. Below are the members interested in the following officers' positions:

President: Rodolfo Pina (Rudy)

"My name is Rudy, and I am requesting your
approval to allow me to become the president
of our club. The reason I came to this decision
is because the club is new,and we are the
foundation. What we do now will shape the future
of the club greatly, I find that very interesting
and exiting. I have both the time and determination
for this position".

Co-Treasurer: Melissa Chavez

Quick Facts:

• If you are interested in one of the above positions, please let us know as soon as possible. If by November 19, 2009, we do not hear from you, it means we will have the above names as our appointed officers! Keep in mind that in order to be an officer it is very important you can make it to the meetings. It was established at the meeting that the president should serve a 1 YEAR term.

• Bianca Baires created a facebook group named Library Club-Unofficial Fan Club. Please join is so we can better communicate through FB as most of you seem to be very familiar with it. :-) We are keeping the blog as well.

• Another pool will be open on the blog asking if anyone else is interested in coming for a library orientation. I ask you to only mark "yes" if you really think you can make it. This orientation is to help you find books, databases, and general library services and resources. It is pretty much to help you better conduct research for your classes! :-)

Thank you all who were able to come for the library orientation today. I had a great time and I hope you enjoyed it too! It was very nice having you there and hopefully you learned some research techniques that can help you in your classes. Please go to the reference desk if you need help locating information for your researches.

I guess group pictures will become the library club tradition! ha ha ha
Even Monica had a chance to stop by. :-)

For those of you who could not make it today, we may be able to offer another orientation soon.

• Also, those of you interested in volunteering at the library, I need your availabilities no later than Sunday as I need to work on the volunteers' schedule. :-)

• We hope to see you this coming Thursday, Nov. 12 at LC133 (same room as last meeting) for our regular meeting. Please post ideas for the next meeting's agenda!
